Neil J. Rovner - Hope Springs Farm

Hope Spring Farms

In August of 2004 Neil and Nina Rovner purchased a 17 acre farm near Hershey, Pennsylvania to create a therapeutic vocational farm for adults with disabilities like their daughter, Miriam. We call the project “Hope Springs Farm”. In partnership with United Cerebral Palsy of Central Pennsylvania as the service provider, there will be a licensed adult day program which will teach such pre-vocational and vocational skills as time management, task sequencing, recognizing cause and effect relationships (i.e. planting crops for later harvest), and the necessity for daily upkeep of the facility. These outcomes flow naturally from the rhythms of agriculture and animal care. Participants may also man a farm stand where they may learn to interact with the public and learn retail skills. We want each participant to realize the pride that comes from planning a task, performing the necessary steps to achieve a goal, and carrying the task to completion. Our goal is to create a community of purpose where each individual may draw on his or her strength to enrich the group. The community will foster friendships and a sense of teamwork.

Hope Springs Farm is a designated Tax-deductible charitable fund under United Cerebral Palsy of Central Pennsylvania and can be designated as a specific fund in United Way contributions.
